Asia Broadcast Satellite Announces Senior Executive Appointments: Willy Chow and Samuel Wong

Hong Kong, 3 September 2012 – Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) announced the appointments of Willy Chow as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Samuel Wong as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

“I am proud to announce these senior executive appointments. With the unprecedented growth that ABS has experienced since our inception, it is crucial that we augment our senior management team to prepare our organization’s upcoming expansion with the pending launches of ABS-2 in 2013 and with ABS-3A and ABS-2A in 2015,” said Tom Choi, Chief Executive Officer of ABS. “Willy Chow, previously served as CFO, will be elevated to the newly created role as Chief Commercial Officer. He will be leading strategic activities such as mergers and acquisitions and corporate development.  I am very proud of the work that Willy has accomplished during his tenure as CFO and I look forward to working with him in a broader role.

“Samuel Wong joins our Executive Team as our new CFO as well as a member of the Board of Directors. He brings an incredible amount of experience not only as a successful CFO of large and publicly listed companies, but also crucial experience in Telecom & Media as well as emerging markets where ABS is concentrating its expansion plans. He will be heading up the Finance organization as well as advising the Executive team on the strategic direction of the company,” Tom Choi added.

In his new position, Mr Chow will spearhead commercial activities and will work closely with the Chief Development Officer on business development initiatives and Chief Financial Officer on financing activities.

As the new Chief Financial Officer, Samuel Wong will be responsible for the overall finance and accounting functions and will be working closely with other department heads to drive efficiency and create shareholder value.   He has over 25 years of experience in financial management and a strong track record in corporate finance, investment projects and financial controllership.  Prior to joining ABS, Mr Wong had worked as CFO and EVP at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Finance Director at Hutchison Port Holdings and CFO at i-Cable Communications.  He is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of British Columbia and a B.Com from the University of Toronto.
